Hectic Hong Kong: The Pier + Last Hurrah

Probably one of the highlights of the our Hong Kong trip was the ferry rides, which offered a glimpse of the life of old. The Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier was dingy and yet retained an unique charm. The ferry ride was surprisingly pleasant with plenty of seats for everyone. Definitely a worthwhile alternative to experience Hong Kong.

Armed with my Superheadz UWS and a roll of Xpro Lomo Chrome 100 under the bloody hot sun, I managed to churn out some pretty neat pictures. I don’t know about you, but I’m becoming quite a sucker for the colors on the Chrome.

#1 Peek-a-boo | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
Stopping by at Heritage 1881 on our way to the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier.

#2 Funkadelic | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
It was originally a historical monument that was re-developed into a hotel. Quite a funky place this Heritage 1881. Bet the price is funky too.

#3 Hip Shot 101 | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
At the boundaries of the pier, giving it the hip shot treatment.

#4 Flying Man | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
A cool sculpture outside the equally cool Hong Kong Cultural Centre

#5 Tada! | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
Here we are at the platform which offers a pretty sweet view…

#6 Motorboat | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
of the waterfront, with Hong Kong island right across. So much Hong Kong goodness overflowing from this one.

#7 Rickety | LC-A+ RL | Lomo Earl Grey 100
I guess it was pretty apt to take a shot of the old rickety gate leading to the gangway in black and white.

A pity that i didn’t get any nice shots onboard the ferry due to a lack of lighting and the constant bobbling. Blur underexposed shots galore.

#8 Central | LC-A+ RL | Lomo Earl Grey 100
Night view of the Central Pier. Spot the towering landmarks in the background.

With the end of our pier hopping extravaganza. It’s time to make our way home…

#9 Hustle Bustle | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
I’d like to think this shot epitomize the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. And binbin’s expression. Uber stressed look.

#10 hkskies | Superheadz UWS | Lomo Chrome 100
One last look at the Hong Kong skies.

#11 Ride Me Home | LC-A+ RL | Lomo Earl Grey 100
Us lugging our massive luggage through the MTR crowd. Quite a stressful experience I must say as my luggage was threatening to fall apart. Also check out the Lomography bag containing 2 La Sardina Shufang got me to buy.
As fate would have it, I’m one of the 20 bloggers selected to participate in the LoBlography Singapore Challenge about the La Sardina. Stay tuned for that!

#12 The Wait | LC-A+ RL | Lomo Earl Grey 100
Made our way to the Airport Express at Central Station to check in our luggage, only to find out that the service is not available for Tiger Airways passengers. Pui! Oh well, you get monkeys for paying peanuts.
Bye bye HK! Till next time.

Finally, that concludes my series of posts on Hong Kong. A top, top secret guest blogger will be taking over for the next few weeks. Be nice.

Hectic Hong Kong: Mad Dash Thru Macau

Hola! I’m back with another follow up of my Hong Kong adventures. This time round, we took a much needed break from squeezy train rides and snaking long queues. By subjecting ourselves to an impossible dash thru Macau, in a single day. Damn those bloody kiasu genes of ours.

#1 Jugular | LC-A+ RL | Lomo Chrome 100
Boom! Going straight for the jugular upon hitting the shores of Macau. Right here at the Venetian casino where the space is limitless. Something very much appreciated having been thru the rigors of Hong Kong.

#2 Eye | LC-A+ RL | Provia 400
After expending minimal moolah at the casino (gambling rules can be so complex and intimidating), we went around exploring other parts of the Venetian. There is no denying the lavishness of its decor. The details of the ceiling and beams made me go “woahhhhhaweseommeeeehitttt” at first sight.

#3 Lisbon Lion | LC-A+ RL | Provia 400
Double exposure shot of a tower outside the Venetian and its intricate details.

#4 Good Mood | Superheadz UWS | Kodak Etakchrome T160 (Exp)
Somebody’s mighty happy in Macau…

#5 Bad Mood | Superheadz UWS | Kodak Etakchrome T160 (Exp)
While another is a grump. Nahhh.. Just posing for the cam. Macau was pretty cool. Even their random wall tiles rock socks.

#6 Squared | Superheadz UWS | Kodak Etakchrome T160 (Exp)
Senado Square, where the Portuguese bigwigs used to chill and make merry, lamenting about crappy conditions living in the East eons ago. Ok, that was just my imagination since Wikipedia wasn’t of much help.

#7 Mustard. Cut. | LC-A+ RL | Provia 400
St. Dominic’s Church. And yes I got that from Wiki. C’mon, you can’t expect me to translate the sign at the front which read “Largo De S.Domingos”.

#8 Big 38 | Superheadz UWS | Kodak Etakchrome T160 (Exp)
The main purpose of our Macau trip (apart from casinos and almond cookies). I’m sure those who grew up watching that HK drama starring Julian Cheung will remember this.

#9 Cherry on Top | LC-A+ RL | Provia 400
That’s the view from the top of the stairs, after bashing thru the 5836th tourist.

#10 The Thinker | LC-A+ RL | Provia 400
The Thinker, Macau trishaw uncle version.

#11 Goodbye. Goodnight. | LC-A+ RL | Provia 400
My last shot of Macau at The Wynn. But (fortunately or unfortunately), this ain’t my last post of the Hectic Hong Kong series. There is probably one final post to go. Or 2.
