Continuing from my previous post of black and white photos of Old Airport Road…
#1 Slide n Ride | LC-A+ RL | Kodak T400N (expired)
A leftover shot from the 2007 expired Kodak T400N batch. Gives off a dreamy feeling which reminds me of my childhood.
Nope, it’s not a new brand of film. I’m referring to this Kodak T400N B&W film which expired in 2007. Yea, two-zero-zero-seven. A colleague who previously dabbled in film photography passed it down to me. Thank you Uncle David!
With an ancient film like this, I thought it will be appropriate to shoot at some beat-up, stuck-in-a-time-warp location. Old Airport Road has always struck me as such. I’ve passed by the area on a few occasions and always noticed a vintage playground (with sand!) peeking through the faded blocks of housing estates.
#1 Concrete Crane | LC-A+ RL
The old playgrounds usually have a dragon facade as their main feature. I remember spending fun times at the one near my grandma’s place. However, this comes with a twist in the form of a crane.
Here I am, embarking on a new Threadless challenge for a jetpack design. No, not the flying kind you see in the futuristic sci-fi movies. More like a regular backpack with a fancier name that’s all.
For the benefit of those new to threadless.com, it started as an online store where users get to submit their own t-shirts designs. Designs will be available for voting by Threadless members for a 7 day period. Members can rate the designs from 0 to 5 with 5 being the best and 0 being the worst. At the end of the voting period, the average score will be tabulated. The highly rated designs will then be selected to be printed as Threadless tees.
From time to time, Threadless issue challenges with specific design themes. They have also expanded their range of products to include hoodies, singlets, polo tees, backpacks and jetpacks. So that’s all I have for Threadless 101.
Moving on to the design I’ve submitted…
It’s a reference to the brash dwarven character from the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, Gimli. “And my axe” is actually one of the lines from the movie made popular as a meme.
I figured it would make a pretty handy ice-breaker to carry such an awesome jetpack. Provided you’re not a shortie. If you are, you can always try taking the jokes in your stride and be known as the guy-who-don’t-mind-laughing-at-himself.
Sign up for a threadless account and vote for my design! Critique and comments are very much welcome.
So there was this Groupon deal which comprised of a two way cable car ride to Sentosa, buffet at “Tastes of Singapore” and tickets to “Songs of the Sea”. All that at a fairly reasonable price. Me being the cheapskate that I am, thought, “Why not?” and unabashedly asked binbin if we can do that for her birthday.
For starters, the cable car ride was just… a cable car ride. Actually, more like a flying fox ride minus the excitement. Zippp… and… There, reached. That said, I rather much prefer a short ride with minimal queues than the Lantau Island one.
With quite some time to spare before “Songs of the Sea” (which is basically a short beachside musical/laser display), we head off to the restaurant which had the audacity to call itself “Tastes of Singapore”. I can’t claim to be a food connoisseur. On the contrary, I’ve been accused of having sub-standard expectations when it comes to food. But I can assure you none of the dishes tasted remotely like Singapore. Probably taste more like Singapore in Year 2114, when it is the aftermath of the Great Nuclear War and everyone just survives on freeze dried chicken rice or what not.
Don’t ever step foot in there. Just don’t. Not even if the Merlion becomes alive and threatens to bite off your head unless you patronize it. Okay, that’s the main point of my post done. “Songs of the Sea” was kinda corny but bearable because of the fireworks at the end. So yea don’t eat at the “Tastes of Singapore”. Don’t.
#1 Zipzipzip | LC-A+ RL | Lomo Xpro Chrome 100
Whoa cool, cabl… Oh we’ve reached.
Another one of my designs straight from the oven. Check out http://www.shirtyfooty.com for more football t-shirts.
Think I may lay off the football designs for awhile and meddle with other subjects. Any suggestions? I’ll give you a cut. Maybe. Or not.
Manchester City took the initiative in the English Premier League title race as they sealed a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Monday. It was a fairly even game with neither keeper being tested until the 45th min, when Man City captain, Vincent Kompany inflated his balloony head and floated over the hapless Man Utd defence to knock the winner home.
T-shirts commemorating this epic event are now on sale at shirtyfooty.com. Grab yours today!
That’s what I learned from my visit to the Botanic Gardens. I’m ashamed to say that pretty much every plant looks the same to me. And those Latin names, they just befuddle the crap out of me.
Thinking about it makes my brain hurts. So I’ll do good by recalling all the other stuffs I encountered. The ducklings, the swans (both black and white), families chilling out, busy Korean lady with her huge ass hat and loud dressing, the gigantic monitor lizard which drew numerous oohhs and ahhs.
It was also the debut of my new camera, the Diana F+ and my 1st experience with a 120mm camera. Boy, I had a hard time figuring out how to load/unload and finding the film counter (FYI, it doesn’t have a physical film counter). I should probably do a tutorial on that. Right after I finished with these photos:

That’s what I call a duck’s eye view.
